Human exposure to exhaust gases, poisoning with waste gas
Exhaust gas flow rate in the location, time measured increases in concentrations of CO (carbon monoxide) and CO2 (carbon dioxide)
Exhaust gas ejected from a leaking exhaust system into the air of a 300 ft3 (8.5 m³) large space.
At 300 ppm carbon monoxide (CO) in the air starts the acute exposure and danger to human life.
This danger point is reached very rapidly after slightly less than 3 minutes.
In the present case the defective plant caused a fatal accident.
The curves were determined by URAS analysers.
(1 vol. -% corresponds to 10 000 ppm)

Carbon monoxide (CO) in the air caused a fatal accident
Accidents caused by exhaust gas poisoning have long been known and are even nowadays not rare.
